British Airways Virtual has over 2000 flights listed directly
into the ICC Crew system database.
Schedules can only be accessed via
our Offline Schedules Program or more commonly known and referred to on this
website as the OSP.
The OSP is available for download along with the documentation in Flight
Operations.
This program is a
MANDATORY
requirement for all pilots, without this you will be unable to file PIREPS or
Flight Reports.
The OSP includes a flight monitor which also monitors your flight from departure
to arrival, including the gates.
Basic
Overview
The OSP enables pilots to view the Schedules with powerful
search capabilities and to file the PIREPS or Flight Reports.
Pilots can also update the
schedule data through this program when timetable changes occur with
one simple update button.
Full Documentation on how to use the OSP is within the program
and pilots are requested to read this thoroughly before
attempting to fly a route.
Pilots need to enter their BAW
ID number and password initially under the settings tab, download the
latest schedules data and search for your requested flight. When we adjust
the schedules simply download the latest data and your schedule program
data will be
updated.
The OSP is compatible with Windows 98, SE, ME, NT, 2000,
and XP.

Schedules Update Policy
We try to mirror the real British Airways Timetable.
We
are sometimes unable to include every route and flight as
these are always subject to change.
Airframes listed by British Airways are
changed frequently according to booking numbers so this may not reflect the correct aircraft on that day.
Pilots are to assume an aircraft type closest to the scheduled
airframe when filing a pirep.
Schedules will be reviewed on a regular basis and extra flights
may be added or removed as required.
Pilots will always be notified of any major change to schedule
information on the Advanced Notification page in the Notams Department.
If any pilot has any query on the Schedules Database please complete the online form which is
located in the Scheduling Section part of the website.

Flying the Routes
Selecting a British Airways Virtual route is simple.
1. Select an aircraft that your rank allows and then browse
through our available routes using the OSP.
2. Pilots do not have to fly the return leg unless you have
elected to receive assigned flights.
3. If you have not already, download the relevant aircraft
from our Fleet Operations.
4. Start your Flight Simulator.
5. Start either the OSP or for online flights, the BAV ACARS
program
5. Fly your route.
Accelerated Time
British Airways Virtual does
allow accelerated time, however when flights are conducted with the Offline
Schedules Program which includes the Flight Monitor, any time that is spent at
more than 1x rate will be accumulated but at a reduced rate towards your final
pirep hours.
If you are flying at more than 1x the
timer is programmed within the OSP to keep logging flight time at 1x.
Here are a couple of examples
London Heathrow to Malaga has a
flight time of approx 2hrs and 30 mins.
If you fly 1hr at 1x and 1hr and 30 minutes on 2x the amount of time that will
be added to your flight log will be 1hr and 45 minutes only.
(The extra 45mins covers the 2x sim rate as the timer is still logging at 1x)
London Heathrow to Philadelphia is
approximately an 8 hr flight.
If you fly at 1x sim rate for 4hrs and the remaining flight time at 2x, you will
only be credited for 6hrs.
4 hrs for 1x and 2 hrs for 2x - (credited
hours are halved in this instance)
N.B
This is not applicable to online flying with the BAV ACARS program as no
accelerated flight is permitted.
The BAV ACARS program prevents you from increasing your sim rate above 1x.
